Shinjuku Incident is an action packed movie directed by Derek Yee starring Jackie Chan who plays the leading role of a mechanic nicknamed Steelhead, he enters Japan illegally to search for his girlfriend. The movie has been successful in Asia and has been realeased on DVD in the West, yet it was banned in Japan due to the amount of violence it contained. The film shows how versatile Jackie Chans acting skills are as the film contains some of the genreic conventions of a drama.The film attempts to face some major issues such as the immigration of the Chinese to Japan and the discrimination they recieved. I began to simpathise with the Chinese who were ambitious simply wanted to better themselves.Overall I did enjoy the film which I was suprised at as Im not really a fan of action or drama movies, it was good to see Jackie Chan playing a different kind of role and I think he was the perfect actor to take the leading role. The film also has a strong moralistic values that many people aren’t even aware of never mind facing them.
