Pete Bernhard, frontman of The Devil Makes Three, plays solosongs "Heaven" and "Orphan" atop LA'sMt. Washington.     NPR MusicUnplugged, yet intense…whiskey-drenched, ramshackle fury…
WNYC SoundcheckThe Devil Makes Three is a bluegrass trio. Sort of. Justdon’t expect songs about catching rabbits or foggy mountains. Do expect songsabout drug abuse, gunplay, advertising and other forms of bad behavior.
Nashville SceneTheir rootsy, Ozarkian vintage folk rock will speak to fansof bands like Old Crow Medicine Show—assuming they’ve listened to a Black Flagsong or two.
Jambase…troubadours to sing our survival tales.
SFista highly recommended gig for any fan of folk, bluegrass, orslow country …take in what could only be called “not your father’s” Americana.
DaytrotterThe Devil Makes Three take us into this place of theimperfect people - with their three-part harmonies and moonshine-y bluegrass -and make us feel that we could hang out in the devil's house, wear his clothes, sleep in his bed and drink his wine and brandy and it doesn't make us anythinglike a devil ourselves, it just makes us empathize a bit with the poor devil. It might get us a bit tipsy and it makes us believe in the goodness of thedevil and his music.
Under the Radar
...like the best bourbon, goes down smooth, and then help to steer therest of your day
Eastern Surf Mag
Punk-tinged, whiskey-fueled, old-timey/bluegrass/ragtimeblend...Charmingly ragged vocal harmonies and a legendary live show only add tothe band’s allure.
Flavorwire

The Devil Makes Three play a tongue-in-cheek form of Americanroots music, bucking genre conventions with lyrics that trend toward atypicalsubjects like crack abuse and getting your picture taken with the FourHorsemen.

Hear Ya
The "gypsy-punk-hillbilly-bluegrass-blues gospel"description is a mouthful, but DM3 is far from ordinary. Their sound is drivenby rhythm and three-part harmonies that beg you to boogie down, even if youaren’t the boogie down type.
